Serge Gariepy, vice-principal, was born in Hamburg, Pa., just up the road from Blue Mountain Academy. However, he claims Spartanburg, S.C. as his hometown.

When Serge was young, his family moved around quite a bit. After getting married, he and his wife lived in Taiwan; Collegedale, Tenn.; Healdsburg, Calif.; and Calhoun, Ga.

Serge has a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Southern Adventist University, and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in mathematics from Pacific Union College.

While in Taiwan, Serge taught ESL and Bible for a year. He then taught math and physics for six years at Rio Lindo Academy in northern California. He was also the vice-principal for their last two years there. He has been at Georgia-Cumberland Academy since 2007. He has worked as vice-principal for the last three years and continues to teach some math classes. He also works with the Student Association, and is involved with planning the school’s mission trips.

Serge is married to LeAnn, ESL teacher at GCA. They have three children: Aiden, Samantha and Ellie.

Serge believes that the Lord has blessed his family during their time at GCA.

“The friendships we’ve made with staff and students during our time are what we cherish the most,” he said. “We wouldn’t trade them for anything.”
