Patricia Muriel, English and Spanish teacher, was born in Santiago de Cali, Colombia. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was three, and she grew up in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, N.Y. She now resides in Calhoun, Ga.
Patricia has a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Adventist University and a Master’s degree in Spanish language and culture from the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain.
She has a niece and three nephews. She enjoys being the “crazy aunt” and spoiling them!
Patricia currently teaches freshman English and Spanish at GCA. She enjoys teaching the freshman, and tries to help the transition from eight grade to academy go as smoothly as possible for them. She says that it is exciting to watch her students grow, both academically and personally, throughout the year.
Patricia enjoys her job at GCA and considers it a privilege to work in a place where parents entrust their children to the faculty not just for the day, but for months at a time. She loves the adventure of getting to know the students and experiencing life with them.“It is a huge responsibility, but one that comes with many rewards,” said Patricia. “I don’t have kids of my own, so the students become my kids.”
