Bio

Mark Carr, grounds supervisor, was born in Hattiesburg, Miss., and spent quite a bit of his life in Arkansas. He graduated from Bass Memorial Academy in 1988, then went on to earn an Associate’s degree in criminal justice at Southern Arkansas University.

Mark graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1993. He spent 20 years as a police officer and SWAT team leader. He also worked on presidential security for Bill Clinton. He says that he enjoyed law enforcement because he wanted to serve his community.

Mark has been happily married to Kimberly, English teacher at Georgia-Cumberland Academy, for 26 years. Their oldest daughter, Omega, is a senior at Southern Adventist University. Hannah, their youngest, is a senior at GCA. Mark says that it is important to him to be a supportive father and provide a good education for his children. He put his career in law enforcement on hold so that his family could move to Calhoun while Hannah attends GCA.

Mark’s job at GCA has been in the area of grounds and maintenance. He really enjoys teaching kids the value of work and how to operate machinery and equipment. He says that these are skills the students can use later in life.
