LeAnn Gariepy, Religion teacher, was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and was raised all over the South. She has lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Texas, Michigan, California, Georgia, Rwanda, Bangladesh and Taiwan.

LeAnn received a Bachelor’s degree in English from Southern Adventist University in 2002. She is currently working on a Master’s degree in religious studies at Southern.

LeAnn and her husband taught English as a second language as student missionaries in Taiwan for one year during college. They also worked at Rio Lindo Academy in northern California for six years. While there, LeAnn taught ESL, English, religion and drama. They moved to Georgia-Cumberland Academy in 2008. During her time here she has taught Religion III, Religion IV and drama.

LeAnn is married to Serge, who is the vice-principal at GCA. They have three children: Aiden, Samantha and Eliana.

LeAnn now works with the Chinese exchange students attending GCA. She teaches English as a second language, as well as Introduction to Christianity. She says that she’s having a great time getting to know the Chinese students and learning how best to help them understand Christianity and American culture.

“Teaching these new classes reminds me that although I’ve been teaching in academies for the past 14 years, I still have a lot to learn!” said LeAnn.
