Bio

Kalie Kelch, assistant chaplain, was born in Willingsboro, N.J., but she spent her elementary school years living in Florida. Then the summer after her sophomore year she moved to Hagerstown, Md., where she attended Highland View Academy. After graduating from HVA, she enrolled at Southern Adventist University and graduated four years later with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a minor in music.

Kalie has a passion for youth ministry and helping teens find their true identity in Jesus and develop a lasting relationship with Him. What began as a God-sized dream to minister to youth in an official capacity, culminated when she was offered the position of assistant chaplain at GCA. Before joining the staff at GCA, Kalie worked as a freelance book editor for TEACH Services and the Review and Herald Publishing Association and a public relations professional for the community college system in Virginia. She is also a certified Christian life coach and the author of Grab Your Boarding Pass, a junior/earliteen devotional.

As assistant chaplain, Kalie ministers to the needs of the students by praying with and for them, listening to them share their joys and challenges, and encouraging them in their walk with Christ. She conducts Bible studies and helps plan the spiritual programming on campus. She also assists with the praise and worship program, providing guidance and instruction to the bands in the area of worship and musical skills.

“I’m humbled by the responsibility of being His hands and feet to His kids on this campus. It is my daily prayer that He shines through me.”

In addition to spending time with God and nurturing those He puts in her path, Kalie has a variety of interests outside of ministry, including reading, cycling, traveling, playing the piano, woodworking, and gardening. A perfect day for her is spending time with her family or students playing together or engaging in meaningful conversations. Kalie is married to Randy Kelch, the IT director at GCA, and together they have two teenage children.
