Doug Nesmith, boys’ dean, was born in Lincoln, Neb., and spent most of his childhood in that state. He has also lived in Kansas, Missouri and Colorado. However, he says that he has now lived in Georgia longer than he has lived anywhere else.
Doug earned a degree in elementary education from Union College, as well as minors in English, physical education, history, science and religion. He has a Master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of West Georgia.
Doug is married to Candace, vocal music teacher at Georgia-Cumberland Academy. They have five children, two of whom are currently attending GCA.
Doug says that his job as boys’ dean is the best job in the world.
“My job is to be a father for teenage guys,” he said.
